I started this blog when I decided I want to pay off my loans three years after my first payment. I wanted to keep myself accountable and share my journey to become debt free.
This blog held me accountable. It allowed me to share what I learned, so anyone else paying off their loans wouldn’t have to feel alone. While I paid off my loans, I also tried to have a life. I traveled to Israel, Spain and took a 10-day backpacking trip to Europe with my boyfriend after graduation. I got a dog and learned how to sew.
In November 2014, I made my last loan payment. My story went viral and so far I have been featured in Time Magazine, DailyWorth and Business Insider. I’m also a writer, speaker and coach and love to share my story and experience of paying off my student loans.
A former sports writer, I’ve written for the Associated Press and have covered the New York Yankees, NBA Draft and Final Four. I currently live in Denver and am a full-time freelance writer specializing in personal finance. I’ve taught several classes on budgeting, how to save money and how other people can pay off their loans.
