Be Mindful With Your Money

The One More Thing Syndrome

January 10, 2017 By Zina Kumok

Since I've been freelancing full-time, I've justified buying stuff for my business. I've heard of people who refused to reinvest in their business even when it could save them time or money. Unfortunately, I've gone too far. I instantly buy a book if I think it could help me, even if I've already got five unread sitting on my nightstand. I have a few courses that I haven't finished. And I almost signed up for a new coach the other day, ... Read more...

Why I Didn’t Like Stitch Fix

October 10, 2016 By Zina Kumok

I was first tempted to get a Stitch Fix box because I had a few people asked me what I thought about them. I have a general idea of how subscription boxes work, but wanted to test one out before I started commenting on it. The basic premise is this you tell Stitch Fix what kind of style you have what you're interested in getting and how much you want to spend on your clothes. We all have that one thing we love to spend money on! For me, it's clothes. Here's why I spent more money on clothes - what's your splurge?

I've always loved shopping for clothes. When I was little, I dreamed of being a fashion designer. I would memorize designer names, examine dresses on the red carpet and sketch my own creations. In school, I dreamed about buying designer clothes, while my mother was a thrifty shopper who always knew the latest deals. I remember watching E! and dreaming about my Vera Wang wedding dress. When other people would talk about how they'd eat ... Read more...

How I save money on clothes and hobbies

November 2, 2014 By Zina Kumok

Yes, I do spend money on clothes & hobbies. But here's how I do and not spend too much!

A couple weeks ago I recorded a podcast about my debt journey. One of the comments that the interviewer made was about how I had to get creative to find ways to save money while paying off debt. I get most of my books from the library and most of my movies from Netflix. But if I do want to buy something, I scour used DVD stores (where I picked up 5 copies for $12 last week) and ebay for the best prices. I love to do embroidery so I ask my ... Read more...
